Important Transit Information for the Sunday Event

Celebrating Grace Lee Boggs; A Century in Love & Struggle
Oakland Asian Cultural Center
(2nd Floor of the Pacific Renaissance Plaza)
398 9th Street, Oakland, CA, 94607

The Oakland Asian Cultural Center (OACC) is located in Oakland Chinatown on 9th Street between Franklin Street and Webster Street. It is accessible by BART (12th Street BART Station OR Lake Merritt BART Station), as well as a number of AC Transit bus lines.

Sunday is also the same day as the Oakland Marathon Race, which starts and ends in downtown Oakland but runs throughout Oakland. Access to OACC, Chinatown, and generally the downtown Oakland area will be impacted by the race. So please plan in advance.

BART should not be impacted. We recommend folks getting off at 12th Street BART, take the 11th Street exit from inside the station and walk 2 blocks to Pacific Renaissance Plaza.

If you are planning to take AC Transit, please check out the AC Transit map for route stoppages on Sunday. If your regular bus lines are along the race route it may be impacted. Some lines will be re-rerouted and some will not be running at all.

Here is additional information regarding the marathon and its impact on traffic.

Parking at Pacific Renaissance Plaza (Oakland Asian Cultural Center)

Street parking on Sunday in Chinatown may be difficult to find. You can try to find street parking in Old Oakland which is just a few blocks away. However, there is a parking garage under the Pacific Renaissance Plaza. Here is more information about parking. Parking should be $2/hour.

If you are parking in Pacific Renaissance Plaza, you can take the elevator directly to the 2nd floor, where OACC is located.

Traffic to Pacific Renaissance Plaza may be slower than usual because some streets will be blocked off for the race, as you are coming into Downtown Oakland and Chinatown. Please be prepared to be re-routed by the Oakland Police Department. However, many of the streets closer to OACC should be reopened by the event time.
